I have always believed in combining a healthy mental workout whenever I am starting a new fitness regimen. Since I started working on the workout portion of the Abs Diet, it’s time to take a mental inventory in order to promote a better state of mind in order to target personal change and improvement.
The following exercise can be done through fitness journal or just as an independent exercise that you can type up on the computer or write out by hand. More often as not, this type of exercise is best performed by writing it out longhand. In my personal experience, the tactile sensation of writing adds a great deal to the personalization of this mental workout.
If you don’t have time to do it now, print this out and save it for later in the day when you are ready to work on it.
Answer the following truthfully. If you find yourself exploring the thoughts at length as you answer these questions, that is fine. It’s important to realize that there are no right or wrong answers, only the answers that hold truth for you.
1. What happened in the past that you would like to put behind you and leave there?
2. Identify three things about yourself that you want to change.
3. Of the three things that you want to change, what behavior do you engage in that supports them?
4. Earlier today, I discussed Acceptance Leads to Change over in the Weight Loss blog; are you able to accept who you are?
5. If you have accepted the way you are, can you identify the ways you would implement personal change into your life?
6. Think of your life as a blank canvas and you can make of it whatever you want – what is the first thing you would add to it and why?
