I have never fully understood the interest we seem to take in Prospective First Ladies. Particularly when it comes to their faux pas. It’s almost as if the wife of a potential candidate makes the elections more palatable for those who would rather not think about the economy or National Security. While I certainly understand the position of First Lady to be one of much influence–they are not actually running for President. But that’s just my opinion.
However, in a subtle attempt to soften her image, Michelle Obama will be co-hosting The View today. Michelle Obama is not exactly a media darling. She’s a little outspoken, comes across as angry sometimes, and has on more than one occasion stumbled in the media. In the very early days of Obama’s campaign, you could catch her making fun of her husband’s big ears.
Are You Good at Public Speaking?
I have one friend who I consider very good at public speaking. It’s as if he has all the answers in his head before you ask any of the questions. I’ve never heard him stumble in speech–not once in the ten years that I’ve known him. While some of us can be caught saying, “Oops–that didn’t come out the way I meant it to,” he always has a ready answer. But note: I just have one friend like that.
Perhaps someone can explain to me why Michelle Obama saying that she is finally proud of her country (implying that she never was proud before), is the end of the world. Do we not ever find ourselves stumbling over what we say? Do you never find yourself wishing for a do over? I personally do–it’s probably why I like writing so much. It affords infinite opportunities for do overs before going public. But since Michelle Obama doesn’t get a do over and she isn’t running for Pesident. . .I’m not too concerned and will not jump to the conclusion that she’s unpatriotic.
Michelle Obama is hoping to soften her image on The View today. She’s hoping to come across as someone the American people want in the White House. While I’m interested in hearing what she has to say–I’m much more interested in what her husband has to say. Will you tune in?
