Michelle Obama’s Fitness Secrets

No matter what your politic beliefs, few can say anything negative about First Lady Michelle Obama’s physique. Clearly she does a good job taking care of her body.

So what are her secrets? Recently she divulged 11 things that help to keep her in shape.

The first is that contrary to what you might think, she doesn’t count calories. Now this I can relate to. I find calorie counting to be more of a burden than anything else.

She also doesn’t like to diet. Instead, she focuses on health (isn’t this what I have been saying in so many of my blogs?) Her measuring gauge isn’t the scale but how she feels about herself.

Second, she gets up very early (around 4:30 or 5 a.m.) to exercise at the gym. I think the plus to this is getting it out of the way. If you put it off, you are less likely to get to it.

Third, she listens to Willow Smith. I will admit that I have no idea who this is but I think the real point is listening to music that gets you moving and motivated.

Fourth, she watches “Sports Center” while working out. This is her distraction. Those can be helpful as recently a friend of mine impressed me when she said she had worked out for an hour and a half.

How? She had been distracted talking to a friend.

Fifth, she eats five meals a day. This includes breakfast, a snack, lunch (which is her biggest meal), snack and dinner. I recently read that your biggest meal should be lunch.

Sixth, she entrusts her chefs to cook healthy items. Okay, I don’t have a chef in my house so I can’t really relate to this one. But the real point is to make sure those five meals are healthy choices.

Seventh, her workout routine consists of a focus on her arms. Duh.

Eighth, she implements yoga and Pilates into her routine.

Ninth, she lifts weights.

Tenth, she includes some cardio.

Basically she is telling us that she works all parts of her body for an overall good workout.

And finally, she loves fries. In other words, once-in-a-while she splurges.
