Michelle Pfeiffer: Enduring Talent And Beauty

Michelle Pfeiffer was born in Santa Ana, California, on April 29, 1958, to Dick and Donna Pfeiffer. She is of German, Dutch, Swedish, Swiss and Irish descent, and has one older brother and two younger sisters, Deedee and Lori. Both sisters dabbled in acting and modeling, but made other career choices. Michelle graduated in three years from Fountain Valley High School in 1976, and attended Golden West College for one year, studying to be a court reporter. It was while she was a teenager working as a supermarket checker at a large Southern California grocery chain known as Von’s that she realized her true calling. Her first job as a performer was playing Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” at Disneyland in the Main Street Electrical Parade in the mid 1970s.

Michelle studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and under Geraldine Page at her workshop in Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theater. After a broken marriage to director, Peter Horton, and a long term relationship with actor, Fisher Stevens, Michelle decided not to wait any longer before having a family and in March of 1993, adopted a baby girl, Claudia Rose. In November of that same year, she married producer, David Kelley, and in August of 1994, their son, John Henry, was born.

She was the first person to appear on the list of “People Magazine” as one of the 50 “Most Beautiful People in the World” a record of six times (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1999), and the first actress to appear on the cover of the special issue twice (1990 and 1999)

During an A & E Biography, she said that her costume in “Batman Returns” (1992) was vacuum-sealed once she was fitted into it, and that she would have only a few minutes to perform before it had to be opened or she could become light headed and pass out!
