What is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse? It’s a relatively new children’s television series from Disney that began premiered on May 5, 2006. New episodes air on Saturdays and Sundays and it is part of the Playhouse Disney weekend line up.
Fans of the classic Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto, will enjoy the programming that is designed to interact with the young viewers. My daughter is a huge fan of the show and asked if I’d add it to our TiVo so she can watch it during the week.
The show engages the viewers by involving them in the problem solving just as Dora the Explorer and other interactive programming. The episodes are designed to use basic problem solving skills in order to help the characters solve their dilemmas including, but not limited to helping Daisy gather up her missing sheep and helping Goofy travel to Mars.
The series utilizes CGI animation and despite being a little larger than life, the characters are quite similar to their hand-drawn likenesses. The CGI was first employed in Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, a charming sequel to Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. These two DVDs are must-haves for any Disney video/DVD collection.
In November, there will be a DVD released featuring the Mickey Mouse Clubouse characters. While the series does not quite come up to the level of Disney’s House of Mouse – it’s definitely a good bit of educational Disney programming.
