I am in total shock that it is already August. Where did this year go? In a couple months the fall and winter holidays begin and before we know it, it will be 2012!
Pondering this on a drive home from my camping trip last week, I decided to make some mid-year goals to help me get back on track.
Earlier in the summer when my teaching job ended, I got back into major workout mode with spinning class, hiking 2-3 times a week, elliptical at least twice a week, etc. However, with some stress and other factors that creeped in the past few weeks, my healthy routines went downhill.
Another reason I want to get back in the swing of things with healthier lifestyle habits, such as eating better and exercising more, is that soon the holidays will begin and I want a head-start by being at a healthier weight. That way if I do fall into some temptations of pies, fudge, and other tasty treats, the effects of eating them may not be as detrimental.
To get started on some revamped goals, I am going to set some small, achievable ones so I don’t get overwhelmed.
Healthier eating goals: I plan to eat more fruit and veggies, specifically three of each a day.
Fitness goals starting today: I plan to do three buddy workouts a week and as many individual ones as possible. My plan is to hike with one of my workout buddies this week, as well as do a hike and bike ride with my husband. That way at the least I will get in three buddy workouts, and hopefully some individual ones too.
Next week I will tweak my goals if needed to make sure they are being met. Also if things are going really well, I can add new goals such as drinking more water and skipping on soda.
What are your mid-year goals? Are they different from beginning of the year goals or the same? Remember to make your goals realistic and doable! And don’t give up! I still haven’t met some of my small goals, but I am still going to try.
