Did you really think that teen queen Miley Cyrus wouldn’t have a blowout bash to mark her 16th year of life?
After all, she is competing with far less famous teens featured on MTV’s “Super Sweet 16” and she wouldn’t want a virtual nobody to out do her momentous milestone, right?
That’s my thinking anyway when I learned what the “Hannah Montana” star has planned to ring in the big 1-6.
For starters, in October Cyrus’ bosses at Disney plan to shut down Disneyland so the birthday girl can “go wild on all the crazy rides” without having to wait in those pesky lines. (Then again, when has Miley Cyrus ever had to wait in line for a ride at Disneyland?)
Cyrus, whose actual birthday is not until November 23rd, says it has always been a dream of hers to have the run of the famous amusement park. The teen singing sensation is a self-proclaimed “roller coaster nut.” Among her favorite rides at Disneyland are the Autopia, the Matterhorn and Space Mountain.
“All I want to do is ride rides the entire time I am there,” Cyrus told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” in a recent interview.
Of course, shutting down an entire theme park for one person costs a pretty penny, so Disney execs apparently listened to their accounting department and came up with an even better plan to make Cyrus’ birthday one to remember. They decided to give members of the public a chance to purchase tickets to hang with Cyrus at her party on October 5th. A limited number of tickets went on sale yesterday. The price per ticket is a whopping $250, but the folks at Disney say they plan to give a portion of the ticket sales to a good cause—-Youth Service America–which helps to improve the lives of Americans ages 5 to 25.
Sources say there’s also going to be a special fireworks display during what Cyrus calls “one rockin’ night … totally awesome.” Oh, and she’ll sing some songs, too.
Once the Disney shindig wraps up Cyrus says she hopes the second part of her dream benchmark birthday will come true. According to reports, the superstar has a few birthday presents she simply needs to have, namely a puppy, Wii Fit… and a shiny new sports car with room for all of her friends.
During a recent interview with Radio Disney, Cyrus enthusiastically remarked: “I definitely want to get something bad on the road. (It must be) big enough for all my friends and to scare all the cars away from me. I’m a good driver but it’s everyone else that I’m worried about!”
Hmm… I’m glad I don’t live in California.
