Miscellaneous Information

The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) has announced that June 15 is the first observation of National Nature Photography Day.

The date “has been set aside to honor the influence of the field as an artform, a vehicle for conservation, and an invaluable way of capturing the natural world.”

Everyone is encouraged to partake in the following activities:

Get your camera out and visit a park – at lunchtime if you can.
Learn about and photograph a species of plant or animal that is native to your region.
Teach a child how to take a picture of flowers or trees in the backyard.
Read about the life of a famous nature photographer, such as Ansel Adams.

Nature Photography Day is intended to promote the art and science of nature photography. NANPA,founded in 1994, was formed to promote nature photography as an art form, and to set professional and ethical standards for nature photographers.

We had a little bit of wet land here when it rained today, but the sun is now shining bright. For more information about the contest mentioned above, contact the Coastal Stream Team. I went to their web site, but couldn’t find the information on the contest. You may have to email them for the info.
