The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards is scheduled for January 13, 2008 on NBC. Michele has already mentioned that Rumer Willis, the oldest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, will be this year’s Miss Golden Globe.
For the past 44 years, the Miss Golden Globe or Mr. Golden Globe (yes, there have been a couple of young men chosen to perform this duty) is generally the daughter or son of a celebrity. You may be wondering who else has served this honor then gone on to be a star themselves. Here are a few of the previous honorees you may know:
1971 – Anne Archer
The daughter of actress Marjorie Lord and actor John Archer, you may remember Anne from a few of her movies – Fatal Attraction, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger.
1975 – Melanie Griffith
Yes, that Melanie Griffith – daughter of actress Tippi Hedren, ex-wife of actor Don Johnson, wife of actor Antonio Banderas, and star of Body Double, Working Girl, Mullholland Falls, and Now and Then. Melanie and Don’s daughter, Dakota Johnson, served as Miss Golden Globe in 2006.
1982 – Laura Dern
The daughter of actress Diane Ladd and actor Bruce Dern, Laura made her acting debut in 1973’s White Lightening. She has since gone on to star in both movies (Wild at Heart, Jurassic Park, Citizen Ruth) and television (“Ellen,” “The West Wing”). Laura is married to musician Ben Harper.
1992 – Joely Fisher
The daughter of actress Connie Stevens and actor Eddie Fisher, Joely has starred in numerous television shows including “Ellen,” “Normal, Ohio,” “Danny,” “Wild Card,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “’Til Death.”
1996 – Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Freddie is the son of actor and comedian Freddie Prinze, who tragically took his own life when Freddie Jr. was only 10 months old. Freddie, named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2000, has remained one of the more grounded young actors in Hollywood today. He has been in movies such as To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, I Know What You Did Last Summer (where he met his future wife Sarah Michelle Gellar), and Scooby Doo.
2007 – Lorraine Nicholson
Lorraine is the daughter of actress Rebecca Broussard and actor Jack Nicholson. Although only 17, Lorraine has appeared in Something’s Gotta Give, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Click, and Fly Me to the Moon.
