“And if I am chosen as Miss Louisiana Teen USA, I promise to…get arrested.”
That may not be the answer Miss Louisiana Teen USA gave to the typical question of what she would do if she won the title, but in this case, it turned out to be true.
Lindsey Evans, the reigning Miss Louisiana Teen USA, has had her title stripped due to an arrest. It all started when 18 year old Lindsey and friends Jordan James (18), Jennifer Martin (22), and Morgan Goleman (18) went to the Posados Cafe in Bossier City last Saturday night. For whatever reason, the four decided to walk out without paying their bill, which came to a total of $46.07. Martin told the New York Post that the service was so slow, “we just said, ‘screw it’ and left.”
However, Lindsey is not a very good criminal. She was able to skip out of the restaurant without paying, but left her purse behind. When the staff of the restaurant found the purse, they called the police. While browsing through her purse, the police found not only Lindsey’s driver’s license, but also a bag of marijuana.
I guess Lindsey didn’t think the restaurant would call the police or they would go through the purse because she returned to the restaurant – just after the police had searched her purse. Having seen her picture on the driver’s license, one of the officers recognized Lindsey and immediately arrested her and her friends on charges of theft and possession of marijuana. Martin and James were also booked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Everyone posted bond and their arraignment is scheduled for January 2009. Lindsey was also stripped of her title; just ten days shy of completing her reign. The president of RPM Productions, Inc., which sponsors the pageant, said that “Lindsey Evans has been part of an organization that believes in opportunities when earned and consequences when warranted. Due to recent circumstances, Lindsey has been relieved of her duties as Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2008 effective immediately.”
She added that while Lindsey will have to return her sash and crown, she could keep the prizes and cash equivalents that came with the title. She also said of Lindsey “She’s done a good job this year.”
Yeah, right up until that arrest for theft and drug possession.
