Modern Day Miracles

So many people say that miracles have stopped happening. Some people believe that miracles stopped at the end of the Bible. I think it is important to realize all of the miracles that are around us today. If you stop and look at the world, it is much different now than it was even a hundred years ago. I feel that many of the changes are a result of the inspiration that God gave to man. In my definition that makes it a miracle.

For example look at the steps forward that we have had in medicine. Vaccinations help to prevent many diseases that once crippled, or took away young lives forever. Surgery has become so advanced that they now only need a small incision to complete an appendectomy. There are drugs available to help fight cancer. The means to fix many ailments are just at our fingertips.

Another example is technology. I think back to the beginning of the twentieth century, and I am sure that those people who were alive then would be amazed at all that we have now. There is electricity available in every home. We have appliances that help us to complete mundane tasks. Computers and the Internet have really revolutionized the way that we share information with others.

In addition to these great big miracles, I believe that there are smaller miracles in everyone’s life, you just need to take the time to recognize them. It could be the tumor disappearing right before a surgery or the birth of a new baby. Miracles require faith, and it is important to give thanks for the miracles in our lives. I think it is too easy to take for granted the many blessings that we have now. Life is much easier on us physically then it was a hundred years ago. Opportunities to learn and to grow are open to more people every day. It is truly a wonderful time to live.
