Momma’s on a Diet: Who am I and Why am I Here?

I’m Katie-Anne, a middle aged married mom with 2 preschoolers and a bunch of health reasons – pretty much that’s me in a nutshell. Add to this the fact that I’m self employed as a writer, and I’m a transplanted Brit living in Sweden and that’s about it. Oh yeah, there’s that little bit about being overweight.

Ok, so it’s not exactly a little bit. When I restarted my diet, just under a week ago, I weighed in at ….wait for it…..(or should that be weight for it!) 292 lb! Even I was impressed in a negative way. How did it get to be so bad? I don’t look heavier than I was a year ago. My clothes still fit the same? Did my bones become heavier? Maybe that’s it. Or I know, it’s the blood clotting problem I have, making the blood heavier. Oh, but that doesn’t work because of the blood thinning medication I take – the counter argument would be that my blood weighs less! Darn! I guess it’s just me then. I’ve made myself heavier!

My plan is to follow the points program with Weight Watchers. I’ve done this to moderate success in the past before giving up. This time, I’m not about to give up. I have reasons for this and the first post in my “Momma’s on a Diet” Blog will outline these. Points are easier than calories, in my opinion anyway. I know you have to learn the whole point thing but having been around the block with this in the past, it’s something I already feel comfortable with.

So that’s who I am. Why am I here? Well to be honest, despite being motivated to lose the weight this time, I figure a little more motivation in the form of accountability won’t hurt! I also think that perhaps my journey towards a healthier me might help someone else to kick-start themselves into action – trust me, if I can lose the amount of pounds I need to lose, anyone can!

If you’re reading this and looking for more motivation to get yourself onto Day 1 of the rest of your life, check out these first entries and follow our bloggers through their journeys – and of course, you’re very welcome to stop by and catch up on how I’m doing at Momma’s on a Diet!
