Is lower back pain keeping you sitting on the sideline of your own life? Like so many moms, I have been spending the last several years carting around infants, toddlers, and groceries, picking up stray toys and toting baskets of laundry. Now that my kids are older and I am spending more time working at my desk and driving them around in endless carpools, my lower back pain is flaring up again. Chronic back pain has plagued me in my adult life.
I have gone through phases in my life where I have made more time for exercise and health. As I get older, I realize how an active lifestyle helps me to be pain free, symptom free and actually helps my mind and attitude. In order to be a better example to my kids, I also want to maintain a healthy body so I can get out there and enjoy life with my kids for years to come.
So my motivation is waning to stay healthy just when I need it the most. For the last 6 months I have been plagued with health problems and fatigue which have lead to missed work, doctor’s visits and endless tests which now is just annoying me with the piling up of bills on my desk to be paid for all these tests. Then my aha moment arrived when I overheard my daughter tell her tennis coach that I couldn’t play tennis with her because I have a bad back.
I am literally sitting on the sideline of my life due to chronic lower back pain. This is leading me to a more sedentary lifestyle which is causing more and more health issues. So what is stopping me from taking a little bit of time to prioritize my health?
So when I learned about this new DVD series FPR the Low Back Program from Collaborans, I was excited to try it. Crafted from the expertise of healthcare and fitness experts and designed to be used at home in just 15 minutes a day, the program guides you through a series of stretching, strengthening and lengthening that gets progressively more challenging . It comes with a great instruction booklet, and I would highly recommend it!
I especially like this program because it is like having your own personal trainer guiding you through the correct exercises. I can already feel the relief in my back from relaxing the stressed muscles and strengthening the supportive core muscles in my body. This is a series of exercises that will support you in achieving a healthy back so you can get back to doing what is important in your life. Think about it as a gift to yourself. I feel like it is a good, solid, healthy program for anyone looking for back pain relief.
Can we moms make our health a priority for just 15 minutes a day? I am up for the challenge. This is a twelve week program that promises a long term solution to alleviating lower back pain.
While it takes time to develop a healthy lifestyle, I am committed to taking it on for myself and for my family. Sometimes you just have to simplify your priorities to make time for what is really important in life. I am done with excuses for not having time to do the right thing for my back. And 15 minutes of easy to follow instructions seems to be just the right thing for me.
