Money Saving Ski Deals

As I mentioned in previous blogs, Mother Nature has been quite generous to skiers this season. Slopes from coast to coast are blanketed with the white stuff. Which means finding a deal at ski resorts might be a bit tricky.

The following ski specials were published prior to last week’s winter blast and might have limited space availability by now. Though it doesn’t hurt to check, especially if you are looking to spend part of the holidays shooshing down a mountain or shredding on a half-pipe at one of the country’s top resorts.

CALIFORNIA

Mammoth Mountain is offering a Midweek Madness Lodging Ski Package, which includes lodging and all-day lift tickets starting at $120 per person per night. (Note: The lift tickets alone are valued at $55 each.) The deal includes a standard room with a queen-size bed (but no kitchenette) at the Mammoth Mountain Inn. The resort is located about 300 miles from Los Angeles and offers 3,500 acres of skiable snow in the eastern Sierra Nevada region. The deal runs from January 8-31, 2008.

COLORADO

Crested Butte. Crested Butte Mountain is running a Ski Free Program through January when all lift tickets are free. Two-bedroom condos in the area (with free shuttle service to the slopes) start at $33 per person a night. Based on quad occupancy. You pay your own airfare.

Breckenridge. From now through February 13, 2008, Breckenridge’s ResortQuest Park Place Condominiums is offering a package deal that includes a rental car, four nights in a two-bedroom, two-bath condo and a three-day lift ticket, for $488 per person based on quad occupancy. Shuttles to ski lifts are provided. Each unit has a washer/dryer unit and an outdoor hot tub.

IDAHO

Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho is offering a Ski and Stay package, which includes an all-day lift ticket for $85 per person. Accommodations feature a standard studio lodge room—-with a king-size bed, a kitchenette, and a balcony—-at Morning Star Lodge, located steps away from the gondolas that take you to the lifts. The resort features more than 1,600 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain and is located an hour’s drive east of Spokane, Washington. The deal is good through mid-April.
