Well… it is Halloween, so it seemed only fitting to discuss tricks and treats with money. I will offer up my favorites… please also share a few of your own!
Money Tricks!
1. Stash all extra money in a savings account and pretend it doesn’t exist.
2. Avoid taking out any cash, then you are less likely to make that quick impulse purchase.
3. Remove your retirement account savings from your paycheck before you get it, and then each time you get a raise; give your retirement a raise too.
4. Don’t own a debit card. Switch your debit card to a basic ATM card, so you can still get cash and make some purchases but only with your pin number. Use a credit card instead at places like restaurants. Then if someone does steal your card number, you won’t have your whole bank account wiped out.
5. Start a change jar – throw it all in and when it is full… take it to change machine and use the money for something just for pleasure!
6. Take advantage of credit card perks. If you got the knack for staying on credit track, let your hard work pay you back with cash rewards programs.
Money Treats!
1. Certainly the best things in life are free. Hug your children, friends and spouse!
2. Working hard and saving for a vacation to unwind all that stress from your body.
3. Buying that first home! It is yours, all yours.
4. Paying for college. Whether for you or your kids, providing someone an education can truly be the best treat money can offer.
5. Giving money. Save the life of an animal at the shelter. Provide the funds to get one homeless person off the street. Give food to those who have lost their jobs.
6. Feeling secure, knowing that if there was some emergency you could cover it.
