In my previous article I began a discussion about a new book out by Carl Weisman. In his book Weisman, a bachelor, takes a closer look at why more men are staying single.
In his findings, Weisman found that financial issues also played a part in a man’s decision about marriage.
Men who were not well off financially, were afraid that they would not have anything to offer a bride. Men who were financially stable were afraid of what a bad marriage and a divorce could do to their money status.
Weisman also took a look at how men occupied their life without marriage. He found that the men filled their lives with their careers, their friends, and their life ambitions. They were not upset about not being married and did not consume themselves with the fact that they did not have a spouse.
In addition to the publication of his book, Weisman also has created a workbook. The idea for the workbook came about after Weisman kept getting questioned to give dating advice to the women who were trying to catch one of these single bachelors.
The workbook is free and is entitled “Where is this Headed?” It contains a series of questions that women (and even men) can ask to help discover how the person that he or she is dating responds to marriage. He claims that he knows that the questions work because they are the same questions that he used to get the men to spill out their thoughts in his interviews.
While Weisman’s book may or may not be helpful to others, it has been helpful to him. After writing the book, he took a closer look at himself and now has his first girlfriend. He is even looking at getting married. After examining men who were up to ten years older than Weisman and still single, he realized that his life may be continuing down the same road unless he changed it.
