More Costumes Ideas and Some Resources

If you haven’t figured out a Halloween or Harvest Day Costume yet, you only have a couple weeks left! Maybe some of these ideas or resources will help.

The following can be made with sweat suits and fiberfill or tulle. They are affordable, simple, and cute.

Cotton Candy Costume

Dress your child in white sweatpants and a white hooded sweatshirt, hood up (paint face to match if desired). Pull, pinch, and fluff fiberfill to create globs of cotton candy. Mix quick dry, water-based craft paint with water and add to a spray bottle. Spray fiberfill lightly to give it color. Pink or blue are good choices. When dry, glue to sweats with fabric glue. If you want to save the sweat suit, slip an oversized, cheap white t-shirt over sweats and glue fiberfill to shirt. Otherwise, you can use colored tulle, swirling it and wrapping in around your child, and adding a few strategic safety pins.

Cotton Swab Costume

As above, put on white sweats with the hood up and paint face to match if desired (paint not recommended for tiny tots). Swirl fiberfill or tulle atop the head and around the feet to mimic a cotton swab. You can push the pants legs up a bit and glue fiberfill to socks if you want to save the sweat suit. Also, use a white knit cap instead of gluing fabric directly to the hood.
