Just when I think I could possibly be getting on top of things, along comes something else. I’m running horribly behind this month due in part to a dog I rescued who has terrible separation anxiety. That one little thing is making every day a cleaning nightmare, if she is left in the house, she tears up everything in sight, if she is put in a crate she drools so much from anxiety that a river meets me when I get home. The joys of having a pet.
Anyway, on to the point of this post, I thought I had this changing filters things down. The furnace filter gets changed once a month in the winter, that’s it right?
Then I found out about other filters that you may not know about either. This is my first time being a single homeowner and I’m finding all kinds of stuff out.
Did you know your microwave has a filter? I had no idea, but apparently they should be cleaned or replaced twice a year. I tried to find mine and so far no luck, but since I’ve been in the house for four years, I’m pretty sure it needs replacing.
Also, stoves have filters, another life lesson for me. I’ve made a list of these things I don’t know about so I can do some research and find out where they are.
I didn’t know you should replace your dryer lint screen. I always clean it but after enough use it should be replaced to help reduce the risk of fire hazards.
The filter on your refrigerator ice maker needs to be changed frequently otherwise your ice cubes will taste funny. The same goes for any water filtration system you may have.
Don’t forget the humidifier filter, some really yucky things can build up in there and wind up in the air you breath.
Somedays I really, really wish that when you bought a house they gave you a manual for everything, then I would already know all of this stuff!
