With all the high-priced weight loss products out there, you might get discouraged thinking you can’t afford to lose weight. The truth is there are plenty of everyday things you can use to help you in your weight loss effort.
Read Labels Carefully
Often times, the light or “lite” version of many products isn’t that much different than the original. If the fat, calorie, or carb count is not drastically different then why pay more (usually substantially more) for the product? The word lite on the label does not necessarily mean that a product will help you lose weight, so be sure to read the nutrition information carefully.
What about the Taste?
You could end up spending a lot of money on a product that looks good on the package, sounds great in its description, but tastes terrible. If you really want to try a product, look for a trial size, an individual serving, or a small package. While buying a larger quantity usually allows you to save at least a little bit of money, you won’t be saving any money if you don’t eat the product because you don’t like the taste. Also, meal replacement bars and shakes frequently fall into the category above. They don’t offer much difference in calorie count, fat grams, or carbs. If that’s true, why pay the high prices? Look for comparable items that cost less, or make your own shakes and snack bars at home.
Frozen Entrees
Frozen ready to eat meals are expensive to begin with, but the diet meals cost even more. Most do not contain enough food to leave you feeling satisfied. You would be better off making your own fish or chicken and warming up a can of vegetables. The convenience of heat and eat meals is a large part of their attraction, so when you cook, make sure you cook extra. If you have meals that are ready to eat on hand, you won’t be as tempted to buy the expensive frozen entrees.
