More Genealogy Resources on Twitter

Green Twitter bird Type the word “genealogy” into the “find people” search engine on Twitter, and you get around six pages of results to search through. Not all of them are actually relevant to genealogy, because there are no requirements that state that your Twitter name must match exactly what kind of information you tweet about. This means that you have to sort out the ones that are helpful from the ones that are not useful for you.

Here are some more genealogy resources that you can find on Twitter:

@geneateach is the Twitter name for a Genealogy Teacher from Chicago, Illinois. While his Twitter feed has been inactive for a while, his blog is still being updated. The blog is called High-Definition Genealogy, and you can find the link on his Twitter page. The blog contains details about where he will be speaking, information about his book, and his comments on genealogy articles that appear in recent magazines, or in the news.

@fpl_genealogy is the Twitter name for FPL Genealogy, which is the Public Library for Farmington Missouri. There is only one tweet on their Twitter page, but it is a useful one. It leads to the website for the Denver Public Library. That website allows you to browse through their genealogy information, photographs, obituaries, and more.

@GenealogyPisces is the personal Twitter account of someone who chronicles their own adventures in genealogy, history, research, and cemeteries. Follow this person on Twitter to get links to new information that is posted on the Blogging from the Branches blog.

@My_Genealogy is another personal Twitter account. This one is for a woman named Lena, who blogs about her own experiences as she works on the genealogy of her family. She tweets links to her blog, which is called Genealogy Thoughts. Her blog includes her thoughts as related to her experiences with genealogy, books about genealogy, and her thoughts on different genealogy related websites. Sometimes, she tweets non-genealogy related things, which makes her Twitter account feel more like there is an actual person behind it, and not just a marketer.

@getulslibrary is the Twitter name for the Genealogy Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They tweet genealogy news and events going on at their library. They also tweet when the library will be closed, so you don’t drive out there and get an unpleasant surprise. This information is useful is you live in or nearby Tulsa, Oklahoma.

@NJGenealogy is the Twitter name for The Genealogical Society of New Jersey. They tweet information useful to genealogists who live in New Jersey. They have a “Tombstone Hunt” event planned for September.

@GenealogicalNew is the Twitter name for Genealogy News Now, which is located in Utah. They tweet links that relate to genealogical news, tips, and events that are local to them.

@MacGeneServe is the Twitter name for MacArthur Genealogy Services, located in Springfield, Massachusetts. They tweet links to genealogy related stories from around the world.
