Several days ago I wrote an article on great uses for brown paper bags which everyone seems to have a plethora of. If you’re like me you probably have several dozen stored in your pantry or a drawer in your kitchen.
In addition to the ideas you will find in the article Great Uses For Paper Bags, I now have even more great uses for paper bags!
Wax Removal
If you have spilled wax on carpet or your table cloth, just place a brown paper bag over the spot, and use a warm iron to gently go over the spot. In mere seconds grease spots should appear on the bag, it means it’s working! Move the bag a little and keep ironing until no grease spots occur on the bag. This works well. With a table cloth, you can launder as usual afterwards.
Frozen Fun
It is absolutely no fun to come out to an ice covered or snow covered vehicle in the morning just to see that your windshield wipers are stuck to the glass. To help combat the problem, place a paper grocery bag under the windshield wiper. When you come out in the morning, you should be able to just remove the bag and the wipers should move freely.
It’s Simply Ripe!
You can use brown paper grocery bags to quickly ripen fruits. It works well on bananas, peaches, apples, avocados and tomatoes. Do this before you store them in the refrigerator, because as soon as you place them in the refrigerator, the ripening process stops.
It’s Down the Drain
I use brown paper bags every time I cook hamburger and bacon. Why? Because the brown bag helps to absorb the grease and oils from cooking. It can also work great with fried foods, such as french fries, chicken nuggets, cheese sticks and other greasy foods.
Cool It Down
Cakes, pies and cookies will cool nicely one a brown paper bag. Remove from hot pan to bag just as you would a wire rack. We use this alternative when we are mass baking items and we run out of wire cooling racks.
