Here are some more ideas for last minute Easter projects:
Make a Cute Easter Cake
Using a cake mix or your favorite cake recipe, bake a 9″ x 13″ rectangular cake. When cool, cut it into the shape of a large egg. Remove excess from pan and place on a plate (your kids can have any leftover frosting along with these sections for a snack). Cover a large piece of heavy cardboard with aluminum foil. Place the cake on the cardboard (it may be easier if you cut it into two pieces before attempting to remove it from the cake pan). Frost the cake any color you like then add different colors of frosting, gel, and sprinkles to decorate it so it look like an Easter egg. Surround the cake with candies and curled ribbon. Find a box wide enough to cover the wide end of the egg. Cut off one of the long sides, leaving the other sides and bottom intact. Decorate as desired, turn upside down, and place over the lower half of the cake to look like an Easter basket. You now have a great centerpiece as well as a tasty dessert!
*You can use just one batch or package of white frosting, divide it into smaller portions, and then add a few drops of food coloring to make different colors.
Make Favors for the Table
You can make miniature Easter baskets to use as place cards or party favors for the dining table using paper or foam cups, or small plastic water or soda bottles (16-20 oz. size is fine). An adult should cut the cups or bottles so they are about 3″ tall. Cut remainder into strips to form handles, which can be glued or stapled into place. Sponge paint them, paint with a paintbrush, or cover with woven ribbons, fabric, tissue paper, Easter themed wrapping paper (or any other kind of paper). Embellish as desired, with trims, sequins, feathers, or whatever else you like. Label each favor with a family member or guest’s name and fill with Easter grass. Add goodies or a decorated egg to each one.
Happy Easter!
