My last article had begun describing the top five myths about love in society. There are many opinions about love and relationships out there in our society. Some of the information and opinions may be helpful but others are simply myths. The first three myths were listed and discussed in the previous article. There are two more myths that many believe about love that simply are not true. Those two myths are discussed below.
4. If you have true love nothing else matters.
Many believe that if they are in love then all in the world will be right or acceptable. However, simply loving someone does not magically make everything okay. Some think that if they love their partner enough then faults are excused and will not matter. However, some things are not acceptable no matter how much you love someone. For example, it is not acceptable for your mate to have affairs or drink too much.
In other cases, partners think that their love will cover up and make differences disappear. For example they feel that their love will conquer religious differences, different values in family, age differences, and more.
While loving one another may give you more of a reason to compromise and work through these issues, the love will not take them away.
5. Love goes hand in hand with physical attraction.
Two people can have a very strong physical attraction to one another without having any form of emotional bond. Some believe that if two people have a strong physical attraction to one another then they must be in love. There are many people in the world that have a purely physical relationship with one another. They are very content in keeping the relationship solely physical.
