After reading Mary Ann’s blog, What Are You Paying For Milk In January, I noticed that the St. Louis, Missouri average for milk was left off. Well, I am in the St. Louis Metro area, and was curious about our averages for milk right now, so I decided to research it myself. So here is what the St. Louis Metro area of Missouri is paying for milk right now, at several different grocery stores.
The first thing I did to research these prices, was to grab my price book and see what I had written down. The problem is, that we typically purchase our milk at Aldi’s, because it is the cheapest in the area.
So, the next thing I did, was to contact Schnucks, Dierbergs, Shop ‘n Save, Aldi’s, Wal-mart Superstore and IGA. These are our top grocery store chains. The first three are our big chains you find on almost every corner. The latter three have stores in various locations around the city, but not in every area.
Obviously I did find, that prices do vary somewhat in different areas of St. Louis, even at the same grocery store chains, but this is the standard price of milk for this region.
These prices are for gallons of milk only, not half gallons. And not all stores carry the same types of milk, so certain stores have different milks listed.

Chocolate Milk – $3.49
Lite One Milk – $2.78 (I am unfamiliar with this type, but included it).
