And selling a home may be difficult or take longer in today’s market. Still, don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t move when you want to move. The experts may advise against trying to sell a home right now, but the truth is that there are very good reasons to sell a home, and selling your home right now could be the best thing for your family.
In a previous article, Reasons to Move, I shared some of those reasons. Now here are some more. Does your move fit one of these reasons?
1. You’ve had a change in an important relationship. There are several reasons within this reason of a changer in a personal relationship. Getting married or deciding to move in with a loved one can mean a move. An elderly parent may decide to move in with adult children and therefore need to sell a home. Or, both parties involve may have to sell their homes and buy a larger home. On the other hand, getting divorced, losing a loved one or separating from someone could necessitate a move. Very often, one person may have to buy the other person out of a home but cannot afford it, a home may not be able to be sustained on a single income, or a home may be filled with bad memories.
2. You need to downsize. Downsizing may be desirable for a couple of reasons. The most obvious one is when children grow up and move out on their own. The house then feels too large and too much to maintain, so smaller home is desirable. Another reason to downsize is financial. Someone may have purchased “too much home,” or they may find themselves in financial difficult in affording their current home. Moving to a less expensive home can put a family back on track.
