If you are looking for a romantic setting to wine and dine your beloved this Valentine’s Day you’ve come to the right place. In my previous blog I listed several Cupid-friendly locales within the United States that are catering to lovebirds who want to enjoy February 14th in a secluded setting. This blog contains luxe accommodations the world over, which are hoping to attract couples this Valentine’s Day.
In Canada the legendary ski resorts of Banff/Lake Louise and Whistler are rolling out the red and rose petal strewn carpet for couples in love. The picturesque Post Hotel, which proudly features old-world European standards, is offering intimate accommodations at its resort and spa for celebrating couples. The property is nestled in Banff National Park and is the ideal place for a romantic Rocky Mountain getaway. Next month the hotel will be offering visiting couples tandem spa treatments, mountaintop fondue parties for two, and private dinners in its wine cellar.
In Whistler, the Sundial Boutique Hotel is featuring a Valentine’s Day Romance package that will surely melt your sweetie’s heart. The ultimate romantic splurge takes place in suite #705. The spacious unit features two fireplaces, a heated slate floor in the bathroom, a Jacuzzi in the bedroom and another on the patio. The hotel’s concierge staff then arranges special activities such as couples’ spa treatments, moonlit cross-country skiing around Lost Lake, or candlelit mountain top dinners.
If you have the means to jet off to Switzerland for Valentine’s Day consider staying at Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz, where the service is discreet, but everything else—-the views, the décor, the accommodations—-is over the top. This February the lakeside property is offering couples everything from private dinners in its wine cellar to après-ski high tea to horse-drawn carriage rides through the nearby Fex Valley.
Meanwhile, in what is considered by many as one of the most romantic destinations in the world, the Hotel de Charme les Airelles is offering a Valentine’s Day special to lure visitors to its newly renovated digs. (Think $34 million worth of improvements.) The French resort is set to lure big spenders from every corner of the world with its “Ultimate Valentine’s Day Romance Package.” It includes accommodations in the hotel’s top-floor suite, which features frescos, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis and two balconies that afford south and western valley views. But, the romantic setting doesn’t come cheap. If you want to splurge on your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day prepare to shell out $14,760 a night for the penthouse suite.
For that much Cupid’s arrow better hit its mark.
