In fact, once you discover how easy it is to craft a layout using sticky back paper, you may never go back to traditional paper. Or, you could be like me and start hunting high and low for other self-adhesive products that are safe to use on scrapbook layouts.
Fortunately, paper is not the only scrapbooking element you can use to save time creating elaborate layouts. Some other sticky options that busy scrapbookers may consider employing are self-adhesive charms. Rather than dealing with messy adhesive,s you simply peel the backing off the decorative charms and place them anywhere on your page design. For a more conservative look, choose self-adhesive metal words. They are a simple way to spice up your journaling without adding unnecessary bulk to your pages. Another great sticky back option is self-adhesive fabric frames. They add texture to a plain page design. What’s more, they come in a rainbow of colors and work well with a variety of themed pages.
While self-adhesive paper and other scrapbook products are available online and in most craft stores, they do cost a bit more than traditional materials. If you don’t want to pay extra for the convenience of peeling and sticking, consider making your own self-adhesive paper with a Xyron machine. The popular scrapbooking tool lets you add an even coating of adhesive to cardstock, patterned paper, vellum, and other specialty scrapbooking paper that you can buy in bulk at discounted prices. All you need to do is print, draw, or stamp a design onto traditional scrapbook paper that’ll will fit in your Xyron machine. Different models accommodate different sizes of paper. Next, carefully feed the paper face up into the top end of the machine. After removing the paper from the machine, use the end of a butter knife or some other flat tool to smooth out any creases or air bubbles. Finally, peel off the plastic sheet and place the design on your layout the same way you would a sticker.
