If you enjoy making money by selling stuff on eBay then you realize the importance of good photography. The ability to take and display stellar photos is an important skill for the eBay seller. Fortunately, though, you don’t have to be a professional photographer to capture the perfect shot. These days most digital cameras come with a slew of automated features that allow you to capture high quality auction photos without having a ton of prior shooting experience.
In selecting an ideal camera to photograph items you wish to sell on eBay you want to examine a few key features. In my last blog I focused on resolution, today I’m moving on to a list of other components you need in an eBay camera:
Macro Setting. This feature allows you to focus on an object’s intricate details without walking away with a photo that is fuzzy and unusable. A camera’s macro feature lets you focus as close as 3 or 4 inches from your subject. This is critical if you plan to shoot small objects or you need to document fine details on a larger piece. For eBay purposes this feature allows you to clearly photograph an original price tag or to show that the item you are selling is in mint condition.
Manual Focus. The auto focus feature on cameras are lifesavers–in most cases. However, if you are photographing an eBay item in an area where the lighting is compromised or the object itself presents photography challenges you want the option of switching to manual focus. With digital cameras the ability to manually focus on an object or part of an object is very important.
Optical Zoom. The majority of digital cameras come with both optical zoom and digital zoom. Digital zoom comes with restrictions and many amateur photographers find it difficult to work with. When shopping for a camera to shoot auction items look for a basic optical zoom feature. You can tell if a camera has it by simply pushing the zoom button and seeing if the lens moves in and out. If not, then the camera is using digital zoom.
Check back for my next blog—-in it I will list a few more key features you want in a camera you plan to use for eBay purposes.
