Oh, the things you hear when shopping at Wal-Mart.
Why, just yesterday I overheard this doozy as I stood behind two women perusing Mother’s Day cards that were set out on a display near the self check-out line:
Woman #1: I don’t want a stinking card for Mother’s Day.
Woman #2: Yeah! All I want is for my kids to pick up their cr*p and for put it the hell away without whining.
I’m sure those kids are just itching to make that mom happy.
Personally, I’m holding out hope that the Dyson Fairy will visit me in the wee hours of Mother’s Day, but I digress.
I still have to come up with a gift for my mom for Mother’s Day. I typically give her a photo keepsake as a gift. The personalized presents feature photos of loved ones (usually the grandkids) and are greatly appreciated.
Here are some ideas that have worked well in previous years:
Scrapbook: This is a good idea if you have a ton of pictures that you want to gift mom. You can use traditional scrapbook supplies such as paper, stickers, stamps, die cuts, and brads. Or, if your mom is tech savvy, then surprise her by making a digital scrapbook. All you need to do is add your photos and text, and presto, instant personalized gift. You can even make a set of photo brag books or mini scrapbooks that your mom can carry around in her purse to show off to her friends.
Other practical photos gifts include clocks (several companies will now superimpose your favorite images right on the clock’s face), serving trays, coffee mugs, mouse pads, coasters, key chains, jewelry boxes, coasters, blankets, totes and more. In fact, there are very few items that you cannot add a favorite photo to these days. However, keep in mind that some custom photo gifts take longer to make than others, so if you want the present in time for Mother’s Day, it’s best to place your order as soon as possible.
