Mourn With Those That Mourn

There are times when those around you are dealing with grief. This grief can come for many different reasons; loss of a loved one through death or a break-up, a disappointment in achieving a long set goal or dream or as a result of a serious sin. No matter what the reason it is important to show support and love during the difficult times.

There are times when you simply need to cry with the person that is grieving. Other times you can offer words of comfort. Just stopping by to say hello occasionally can help as well. These things will help the person to know that you care. Additionally you should not push too hard when the person wants to be alone or expect the person to recover much more quickly.

As we reach out to those around us, we are showing charity. It is important to remember that these little acts are often the most important kind of service that we can give to another. They may not take much time, but they can mean a world of difference to those that need it the most.

The holidays can be an especially difficult time for those who are grieving or just recovering from a loss. It is important to keep them in your thoughts and to include them in your plans when possible. Although it may be true that eventually things will work themselves out, it is not a very comforting thing to say to someone.

Additionally it is important to realize that what may make someone very sad, may not affect another person the same way. You should not belittle someone’s grief or disappointment. This happens a lot to small children especially. The pain that each individual feels is real and should be acknowledged. As you do this, this will help her to acknowledge her grief and be able to work through it.
