Summertime is movie time, but do you know how to save money on going to the movies? Rather than banning going out to the movies altogether, why not make the most of your frugal strategies to save money and still enjoy those movies?
Discounted Movie Tickets
There are many ways to get discounted movie tickets, and you can save up to 50 percent off of your movie tickets this way.
Local Deals: Groupon, LivingSocial, Fandango and other deal sites can alert you to movie saving movie deals in your area.
Community Discounts: Many communities and community organizations will buy movie tickets in bulk and then sell them to you at a discounted rate. You can usually save around 30 percent this way. You usually have to be a local resident or a member of the organization, but not always. Check with your town hall, school and civic organizations to see if any offer discounted movie tickets.
Free Movie Night
In the summer, there are usually many free movie nights available. These are usually movies in the park that are offered for families. If you look hard enough, you may be able to watch up to three movies a week all for free!
The movies usually consist of previously run movies, so you won’t catch the latest blockbuster as soon as it comes out, but you also won’t have to pay for the movie.
Our town also offers free popcorn, water and fresh fruit as snacks!
Summer Movie Deals
There are a number of summer movie deals programs out there for free or heavily discounted tickets. These are usually kid or family oriented movies, and the most that is usually charged is $1 or $2. Again, you won’t see current movies, but a free day out at the movies (or one that only costs $5 for a family of five) is a lot of fun.
