Thanks for joining us for our Movies Week in Review! We may just be able to steer you toward a film you’ll really enjoy.
We began the week with a guest blog by Dale Harcombe, our Christian blogger. She shared with us one of her favorite films, “A Man Called Peter,” the story of Peter Marshall. He was an immigrant from Scotland who came to America and started his own small church, eventually becoming Chaplain of the United States Senate, but his way was not always easy. The movie is based on the book written by his wife – Catherine Marshall, who wrote one of my favorite books of all time, “Christy.” Thank you for this review, Dale!
We also took a look at the newest addition to the Barbie movie line-up with “Mariposa.” The butterfly fairies in Flutterfield will be doomed if they can’t get the antidote that will save their dying queen, and only Mariposa is brave enough to leave the safe confines of her village and obtain what they need.
“A Good Woman” is based on a play by Oscar Wilde and stars Scarlett Johansson as a young wife who is given every reason to believe the worst about her husband, but instead learns that trust is the most vital element to any relationship.
Cary Grant takes to the skies in “Only Angels Have Wings,” the story of a man who flies mail over a treacherous mountain range for a living. In the midst of his high-adrenaline world comes a woman who wants to share it with him, but he doesn’t know how to let down his guard and allow her into his heart.
“Duke and the Great Pie War” shows our friends, the VeggieTales, learning the importance of taking care of family as we see the stories of Moses and also of Boaz and Ruth come to life as acted out by produce.
We ended the week with “Take the Lead,” an inspirational movie about the effect dance can have on troubled youth. Antonio Banderas plays Pierre Dulaine, a man who, in real life, took dancing to hundreds of inner city schools across the United States and changed thousands of lives for the better.
We hope you enjoyed this look at our week, and that you’ll find something here to keep you well entertained.
