I found a new way to get organized. Have your child get her own apartment. I know it sounds a little drastic but it’s amazing how much stuff you can get rid of when you know your child will be using it.
Hailey is moving into her new apartment next week and that has prompted me to go through cabinets and closets looking for things I don’t use. When you get your very first apartment you need everything.
I have spent the last month going through my kitchen. One cabinet at a time. It’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate, now it will all go to good use.
The best part is, I can shut the cabinet doors again. Things were piling up in there, and really, how many cookie sheets does one house need?
I’ve filled quite a few boxes and my kitchen feels so much lighter. I can get what I need without something else falling on my head.
When I saw how well this worked in the kitchen I attacked my closets. The linen closet was almost as bad as the kitchen but I’m happy to say that Hailey now has enough towels, body wash, hand soap and toothpaste to get her started.
I tend to stock up on things when there on sale. This is usually a good idea but not when you buy so much you can never use it all in this life. Now I have a place to send all those things.
Then it was time to go through the boxes in the basement. Why do I pack stuff away in the basement? If I don’t need it why don’t I just get rid of it? Inquiring minds want to know.
Unfortunately until she actually moves out my house is full of boxes waiting to be moved. Guess that just gives me an excuse not to vacuum for a while.
