I always loved the series “Sex and the City.” I loved the freedom the girls experience, but I also loved how Carrie kept going back to Mr. Big. We didn’t learn his name until the series finale (it was John) because he was such a larger than life character. I haven’t seen the last movie, but I know that at the end of the series, Big had told Carrie she was the one and when the first movie came out, it was revealed that Big and Carrie were married. Guess I am just a sappy romantic because I loved that ending.
In real life, Mr. Big is a hero. Actor Christopher Noth, who played Big, is now starring on “The Good Wife” but he still finds time for to help better the environment.
Noth has been active in the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) for the past 15 years. RAN began back in 1985. RAN campaigns against corporations that it feels are harming the environment in some way. Its first major claim to fame was when it got Burger King to cancel beef contracts in Central America that were harming the rainforest. That contract was quite a big one to cancel – $35 million.
RAN also works to change policies in the areas of home building, automobiles, banking, fashion, and wood purchasing and supplying.
About RAN, Noth said, “Global warming is the most important issue facing our world today, and not enough people are doing enough about it.” He went on to say global warming affects “every person on this planet.”
Noth created tea soft drink called Sweet Florida Dream for RAN. The beverage is sold through lovatea.com and 50 percent of the proceeds go to RAN.
But, Noth is not the only celebrity that supports RAN. Singer Bonnie Raitt, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, and Woody Harrelson also support the charity.
