MTV’s “Teen Mom 2” Star Arrested

I don’t know if you have seen the very disturbing video of a teen, Jenelle Evans that apparently stars in the MTV show “Teen Mom 2,” absolutely pummeling another teen. A group of people stand around egging it on until eventually they see that the teen being hit has had enough.

Well the video went viral and it didn’t take long for the authorities to act on it. In all, three girls were charged.

I don’t know what is worse to me…the fact that this teen is part of a show that chronicles four teens who are mothers, or that the video was posted online. I suppose there are really two issues at hand here.

First, why are we depicting teen motherhood on MTV? Is it to glamorize being a teen mom? Are teens really learning anything valuable through this show? I’m frightened at the idea that the same person who viciously attacked another is a mother.

Second, why are teens posting this crazy stuff online? Do they not realize that once it’s out there, it is there forever? And that it’s likely they could get in trouble? Someone is going to see it and you never know who that someone will be.

The trouble is you can’t take any of this back. It’s out there and its there to stay. You can’t erase it, try as you might.

I’m so tired of the terrible examples that are being set before teenagers. Their world is troubling enough to get through, without the likes of MTV “stars” demonstrating how not to act.

And from what I understand, the first season of “Teen Mom” saw the arrest of one of its stars, Amber Portwood, for domestic violence.

Oh how I remember the good ole’ days of MTV, when it was about music videos. It has become nothing more than a money-making, morally deplorable monster. In this house it is also one of the channels that are blocked out…and for good reason.
