Multitasking

Multitasking. Doing more than one thing at a time. Even if you have another name for it, you likely find yourself doing it often. It isn’t any different when it comes to cleaning house, and in fact, you can get the cleaning out of the way more quickly if you do it efficiently.

So, take down your shower curtain and throw it in the washer (you can do the liner too, if you do it on gentle if you hang it back up to dry). Do window treatments or other like items with it. Toss them in and start the washer so they can be getting clean while you tackle the rest of the space.

What comes to mind next is the memory of those Scrubbing Bubbles commercials. “We work hard so you don’t have to,” was the tag line. Well, there you go. Put your cleaning products to work for you.

You can “soak” things while doing something else. Apply your favorite cleaner and allow it to sit for a few minutes while you get something else done. Upon returning, the item or surface should be much easier to clean (and this works in most areas, not just the bathroom.

Another similar step is to disinfect cleaned items while finishing the rest. Spray disinfectant on already clean surfaces, fixtures, etc. while you continue cleaning the rest of the space (it helps to start in one corner, work top to bottom, and work your way around the room, so you don’t miss anything).

You might be surprised to learn than many disinfectant sprays must be sprayed on until the surface is wet and then must be allowed to sit for several minutes in order to be effective. Be sure to read the directions carefully to make sure you are getting the optimum benefit from your disinfectant spray.
