Murder Mystery Weekend and Wine

If you love playing games and have never participated in a murder mystery weekend, then you are in for a real treat when visiting Herman, Missouri. Okay, so this is a mock murder, a kind of Clue or “who done it” scenario but you can be sure to have the time of your life. For adults wanting to get away and try something new, I highly recommend a trip to Herman.

The great thing about Herman is that it sits in the heart of Missouri wine country. This storybook town was established in the 19th century and today, is known for its murder mysteries, as well as wonderful wineries. There, you will find a large selection of bed and breakfast inns, specialty shops, trails, a riverfront park, historical architecture, and much more.

Actually, a couple of inns offer the murder mystery experience and packages are very affordable. For instance, you could purchase a package at a bed and breakfast that includes all your means and accommodations for a minimum of five coupes. The price for this is $117 per person. In addition, you could visit the Europa Restaurant the first Friday of each month for a murder mystery, day trip. In this case, you would dine on a succulent meal for $35. If you preferred to stay overnight, then of course accommodations would be separate.

After enjoying a night of actors trying to fool you at the murder mystery dinner, you can wake the following morning and tour any number of wineries. The Adam Puchta Winery has been around since 1855 and today, continues to be operated by Puchta’s grandson. Rated as the oldest family operated winery in the state, this is a wonderful place to visit. Another winery worth considering is Bias Vineyards and Winery. There, you would sip on wine made just 600 feet from the actual winery.

Then, there is Bommarita Estate Almond Tree Winery, which was founded in 1996. In addition to wine tasting, the views are simply beautiful. Another possibility is the Hermannhof Winery. With 10 cellars and a solid brick superstructure, this building sits on the National Registry of Historic Places. Finally, Herman, Missouri is home to the Oak Glenn Winery, which sits high on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. Founded in the mid-19th century, you can enjoy top quality wine and live entertainment.
