Here it is… the information fans of The Police have been waiting weeks for: According to the band’s promoter, the reunited trio will bid a final farewell to their loyal followers at a massive finale at New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 7th.
The band had previously announced that they planned to wrap up their current tour in the Big Apple, but kept the date and venue a secret.
In addition to learning where Sting and Co. will be taking their final bows and now know who will open for them—according to the band’s rep, the B-52s will be lending support to the rockers as they end their whirlwind final tour.
Reps also revealed that proceeds from the finale will be donated to New York public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21, which will air a Police retrospective featuring new interviews with the band and vintage concert clips throughout the day of the show.

The blonde beauty was just honored by the Recording Industry Association of America for having sold more than 18 million albums in the U.S. and 27 million albums worldwide since her professional debut in 1995.
Jewel was given a plaque to honor her achievement on Thursday as she prepared to sign autographs at the Country Music Association festival in Nashville. The new piece of hardware comes just two days after she released her new album, “Perfectly Clear.” Its lead single, “Stronger Woman,” is already No. 15 on the Billboard chart.
Finally, reality TV and music star Reverend Run and his wife, Justine were installing some hardware of their own this week. The couple teamed up with Kool-Aid and KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that helps build playgrounds for kids across America to build a new addition to a valuable resource in the L.A. area.
The star of MTV’s “Run’s House” donned a yellow hat and joined dozens of others to construct an outdoor play area at the L.A. County Teen Challenge Center in Lynwood, California. And the musician says he plans to continue his philanthropic ways. Over the next few weeks Rev. Run will move on to Houston, Atlanta and Cleveland to help build playgrounds in each city.
