On Halloween, I love to watch scary shows on television. Whether it is scary reality tv, frightening movies, or classic horror shows, I always try to devote at least a little time away from candy giving to watch my favorites.
Here’s my list of must-see tv for Halloween (check the TV Guide home page for listings in your area):
The Sixth Sense (ABC Family)
This one is a new horror classic. How frightening is a child who sees dead people? Whether you have seen it or not, you may want to check it out again on Halloween just to give yourself a little scare.
“The Unexplained” (Biography Channel)
Covering topics like Amityville: The Haunting (which the haunting story turned out to be untrue, but look in to the murders that really took place in the house if you want a real scare!), exorcism, and poltergeists, what is there to NOT be scared about?
“Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular” (Cartoon Channel)
This one is great for the kids…(hint: it’s not that scary). It is the story of Hannah Marie, whose cousin is babysitting her on Halloween. Unhappy to be doing that, the cousin cooks up a scheme to scare Hannah. But, Hannah’s Scary Godmother comes to her rescue.
“20 Most Horrifying Hollywood Murders” (E!)
From the Notorius B.I.G. to Sharon Tate, E! has all the gruesome details of these celebrities that met gruesome and shocking endings.
The Masque of the Red Death (TCM)
Ah, an Edgar Allan Poe classic starring Vincent Price, the master of Gothic horror. It doesn’t get any better than this!
Ghost (WE)
This one is great if you are in that “ghost who is more romantic than most of the living men we know” mood. Bonus: Patrick Swayze was never sexier than in this movie.
“Most Haunted Live” (The Travel Channel)
Tune in as Derek Acorah and the gang try to get in touch with ghostly spirits.
Halloween (AMC)
Hey, it is not on the American Movie Classic for nothing! If you don’t know the story of Michael Myers, catch this original then watch the other seven with Halloween 9 due out in 2007!
