Good morning, I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself here as it’s the first time I’ve gotten to write for the Disney (Unofficial) blog and though I am a lifelong fan and I’ve visited Disneyland and Disney World several times, I’ve rarely gotten the opportunity to share my passion for all things Disney outside the family.
Disney Through the Years
My first Disney World visit occurred at the age of 1, though I do not remember it, my love for all things Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck seems to have always been a part of my life. Of the original cast of characters, Donald Duck was always my favorite.
My family took trips to Disney Land in California when I was 4, 5 and 6. When I was much younger, my grandmother took me on a road trip to Disney’s MGM just so I could go on Star Tours a couple of times. I returned again to Disney World for a week when I was 19, when I was 21 and then a long dry spell until returning in October of 1999 when my husband and I were married in the Rose Garden of the Yacht Club and spent our honeymoon living it up at Disney’s Grand Floridian and playing in the parks.
Family Vacation & More
More recently, my husband and I took our daughter to Disney World last October for a week’s stay at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom lodge. It was terrific to wake up in the morning and look out over the Savannah. My daughter, just 4 at the time, was blown away by the experiences she enjoyed at the Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios and more.
You could say we’re a Disney family, because my husband shares our passion for the Disney experience and we’re already saving for our next vacation. We’re also working with a more current knowledge of the parks, the hotels and how to balance our budget and stretch it to enjoy the most of the parks that we can.
If you’ve ever ordered a Disney Vacation Planning Kit, it comes with a great DVD that shows off the multitude of events, rides, restaurants and more. For the family planning their Disney vacation, this is a must have. Though be forewarned, my daughter watches this DVD recently and she put in for her cousin a few days ago – and now he’s as hooked on the idea of going as she is – so it looks like we’ll be adding another Disney nut to our family tree on the next adventure!
What is your earliest Disney memory and would you care to share?
