My Dog Ate My Sunglasses & Other Fun Stuff

My dog ate my sunglasses. Really, he did. In fact, he did it just the other day. I’ve talked about Kai, my Siberian husky over in the Pets blog before and I was outside picking up the mail and when I came back, he was chowing down on a really nice pair of Raybans. Unfortunately, the Raybans – or what’s left of them is now in the recycling bin.

Life with babies and dogs can be pretty similar. Having lived with both, I’m familiar with how it goes – like the day my two year old stuffed a banana in my wallet so that I could have it for later. There was also the time I found her coloring the walls to make her own paint samples and once because she wanted me to see that red would look good there.

There was the time she used the water sprayer on the sink to water the flowers on the wallpaper. There was the time that she put a sandwich in the printer because she wanted to put a picture on the bread. There was the time that she poured coke into the dog’s water because she thought they’d enjoy it. She stuffed candy in her nose to see if she could taste it there.

There was the time she came back from a trip with her dad with stomach flu and ended up literally vomiting into my face. Yes. Right into my face and it happened probably just like your imagining with your lips pursed and your nose wrinkled. It was just that gross. But she did it. In fact, for the first three years of her life, she never threw up without making sure it always landed on me. Luckily, she only did this when she was sick and she never spat up as an infant, so I’m good with that.

The list goes on and on and on and on. The stories we can tell about our pets and our babies and the very strange things they do. Some are pleasant and some are not. Some are funny and some are not. Some are just so bizarre that you can hardly believe they are dinner conversation and who else can you share these crazy stories with but with other moms, other pet owners and you – the reader. So – yesterday, my dog ate my sunglasses. Thank God it’s Friday!
