Pets are an important part of many people’s lives. Pets give unconditional love, companionship and they help lift your spirits.
My love affair with pets began when I was a little girl. I was quiet, shy, and didn’t have too much to do. I dreamed of having a dog to play with. I would ask my parents daily and they would always say no.
Then one day out of the blue I thought that my wish had come true. My parents and I decided to go to the pet store. We saw a beautiful Golden Retriever and decided to take it into the play room. We stayed in there for about a half and hour and my mother even named her, “Goldie” was the name. Imagine my disappointment when we left- no dog.
For years after that I begged and pleaded for a dog. I even wrote research papers and presented them to my parents to show them I was serious. But that didn’t matter, the answer was still no.
During my third year of college I got an apartment. The apartment wasn’t pet friendly but I thought after I lived there a year that I would move into an apartment that allowed pets. Unfortunately that didn’t work because I really wanted a dog. It was just my luck that certain circumstances allowed me to move out 6 months early into another apartment complex that was pet friendly. The same day I moved in, I went to pick up my first dog. I am a big researcher so I had been researching for months.
A few months later I ended up getting another dog and now I am a mom of two Chihuahuas.
This blog will be used to discuss various aspects of pet ownership including personal stories, pet health, traveling with pets, and many other issues. You are also invited to suggest a topic that interests you.
Who knows, maybe one day I will end up sharing why I dislike cats!
