My Favorite Baby Books

My daughter has a book collection that takes up two or three full book shelves all her own. I’ve been buying her books since before she could hold her head up. So I like to think of myself as a baby and children’s books aficionado. So for all you parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents of the babies age six months to two years – here are my favorite baby books.

Pat the Bunny

This book falls into the oldie, but a goody category. Dorothy Kunhardt’s classic has uses touch and feel to fascinate babies and has since 1940. It’s a great book for babies and they all love to pat the fuzzy bunny in the center.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Boasting a green frog, a yellow duck and a blue horse, your baby will love these unforgettable animals and their very distinct colors. They will love to play with turning the pages and looking at the different colors and creatures.

Dear Zoo

This is great for babies over 1, because they can go off to look for a perfect pet in this lift the flap book – there’s also a lot of patterns that lets your baby guess what’s coming.

My Car

The My Car uses lots of blocky, chunky characters that look a lot like Fisher-Price characters and they grab baby’s attention and make this a page-turner for them. There are a few words that you can read to them and let you tell baby how the character Sam takes care of his car.

Where’s Spot?

This book is entertaining for years beyond babyhood and toddler hood. There is a puppy named Spot that is hiding under a bed, in a cabinet and behind a door. You and the baby can lift the flap as baby looks for where Spot is hiding.

What is your baby’s favorite baby book?
