Fitness myths are a dime a dozen and I don’t think anyone knows where they all get started. Like the whisper game, one person says it and then another and then another and before you know it, these little gems are considered just basic facts when it comes to getting in shape and getting fit. So I’m going to give you a little list and you might call it a pop quiz – some of the following are definitely fitness myths, do you know which ones are?
True or False:
A. If you want to lose belly fat, then you need to do sit ups and crunches to make that happen.
B. There’s an easy way for everyone to lose weight, you just have to find the one the works for you.
C. If you can’t work out 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, there’s no point in even trying to exercise.
D. You can determine your workout’s level of difficulty by how much you are sweating.
E. If you lifted weights regularly and then stop, all that hard earned muscle will quickly turn to fat.
F. Stretching isn’t that important to your workout because you don’t burn excess calories doing it.
G. The more intense your workout, the better it is for you.
H. You need to be exhausted at the end of the workout, physically spent, to have achieved a successful plateau.
I. The older you get, the more you will develop fat and the harder it is to develop muscle.
I’ve heard all of these many times before from readers and others. But what I want to know is how many of you can pick out the myths from the facts in this list. I’ll publish the answers to this challenge tomorrow, in the meanwhile, you can use the comments section below to post your answers and viewpoints.
Which of these are myths and which are facts?
