I’m sure many of you remember the song My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music with its raindrops on roses etc. I thought I’d share some of my favorite things.
Living where I live and belonging to the church that God has brought us to.
Sunlight shimmering on water, as it was this morning when we passed the beach.
Walking on the beach.
Sunsets and waterfalls (Surely two of God’s most amazing creations that I never tire of looking at)
My bible which is a workbook for living and filled with dates, answers to prayer, highlighted verses and underlines passages that contain God’s promises or commands.
Rainbows and the ocean – another of God’s amazing creations that never cease to amaze me.
Books. Our house is filled with them.
Poetry – I love the rhythm and imagery of poetry. And the way a few words can say so much.
Singing.
Music of all kinds – rock and pop, opera, ballads, songs from musicals, some country and western, almost anything so long as it has words. They don’t even have to be in English. I’m not a big fan of instrumental music because I can’t sing along with it – though I have been known to from time to time.
Old hymns like To God Be The Glory and And Can it Be, In Heavenly Love Abiding, If Thou But Suffer God to Guide Thee, O For a Thousand Tongues
Songs from the Psalms like I lift my Eyes to the Quiet Hills.
More modern choruses and church songs like Shout to the Loud, Our God Reigns, Be Exalted O God, – just to name a few.
The song I’ll Walk with God sung by Mario Lanza. It came from the movie The Student Prince.
Colorful flowers (not white,) but especially blue and green flowers. Favorites are cornflowers, lupins, anemones, pansies, browallia, jacaranda, plumbago, black tulips. I also love orchids because they are so exotic. We bought several new ones recently on sale and I love having them inside flowering spectacularly.
Old movies like Friendly Persuasion, The Adventures of Robin Hood, and Casablanca.
The song Friendly Persuasion sung by Pat Boone and from the movie Friendly Persuasion
Jane Froman singing I’ll Walk Alone from the movie With a Song in my Heart.
You’re my World – which is my husband’s and my song, because of the words.
Perfume like Dewberry and Ananya.
Night skies spangled with stars.
The moon over the water.
Blue in all its shades, but especially cerulean, turquoise, royal blue, Dresden blue and azure blue.
P foods – passion fruit, prawns, pork.
Lemon butter.
Cashmere Bouquet talc because it reminds me of my mother.
The blessing in Numbers 6:24-26 in the New American Standard Version especially.
And many more things that have sentimental value. I’d love to hear some of your favorite things.
