My favorite valentine memories….what’s yours?

When was your favorite Valentine’s Day? What was your favorite gift? Sometimes it’s nice just to remember Valentine’s Days gone by, and remember how lucky we really are.

My most surprising Valentine’s gift from my husband was one of our first and he had said he didn’t have time to do any shopping. I really was okay with that, but I kept thinking that it would have been nice to just to get a card so I knew he was thinking about me. When we walked through the house and opened the bedroom door, there lay two Tiffany’s bags and a Victoria’s Secret bag in the middle. I was shocked. The Tiffany’s bag included a necklace that matched a bracelet I already had, and a crystal jewelry box. The Victoria’s secret bag had in it a pair of cotton pajamas I really wanted. It was so neat because there wasn’t any lingerie – it was just a pair of pj’s I liked.

The best Valentine’s Day present he ever gave me was before we were married. We had talked about getting engaged, and were starting to look at rings and such. He gave me a ring box, and in it was a ring he made out of play-dough. I loved it, and I still have it tucked away.

Last year, my son made me a heart shaped box and on top it asks, “Guess how much I love you?” When you open the box, there were hundreds of little pieces that said “love” on them. When you empty out all the pieces, the bottom of the box reads, “This much!” It was really great, and it’s in my bureau drawer where all my favorite things go.

My daughter made me a bouquet of flowers once, out of construction paper. Each flower was connected to a popsicle stick and each popsicle stick had a “coupon” like, “I’ll do dishes one night” and those kinds of things. They bouquet was placed in a decorated coffee cup and filled with beans. I’ve never used a coupon; I just keep it set up and undisturbed.
