My Mother’s Day

Some very good friends of mine did a VERY cute thing for me yesterday in honor of Mother’s Day. They went shopping on behalf of my fur-babies, Moose and Lally.

My dogs (and my friends) know me well. I got two types of chocolate candy and some cocoa powder for when I make smoothies. (Cocoa powder plus mixed berries equals delicious smoothie!) But my favorite part was the card.

The envelope reads “For Momma, From Moose.” Underneath that, it says “It’s really from ME! Lally.” The card inside features a brown dog (like my shepherd mix Moose) and a yellow dog (like my boxer mix Lally) fighting over who loves Mom more. My friends signed the card for the dogs and even drew paw prints!

I have some great friends. My mom has done similar things on Mother’s Day in the past — sent me a card or left me a little present from the dogs.

And I have some great dogs, too! They show me love (and fight for attention) every day — not just one special day. They are my faithful companions and keep me safe and warm and entertained all year long.

Here’s another Mother’s Day story from my furry family. This happened before I adopted Miko — back when Becca (my parents’ dog) was the only dog in the family. Miss Becca and I were in the back yard at my grandmother’s house. I noticed that the neighbor’s rose bush had sprouted a few flowers through the fence into our yard… so I picked one. I was planning on bringing it inside and giving it a new home in a bud vase.

Becca was VERY interested in the rose. Finally, I held it out for her to sniff.

With a mighty chomp, she ate it! So let that be a lesson to you — don’t let your kids (furry or otherwise) eat your Mother’s Day flowers.
