Regardless of our faith, we are all human and made in God’s image. He loves each one of us. The Bible says that God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). How are we to be lights in the lives of others if we cannot do so with respect for them?
To My Muslim Friend,
I’m so sorry to hear someone would be ignorant to call or associate you of all people with anything wicked! Your mission has been successful in dispelling myths. I thought that all Muslims hated Christians and Jews. I didn’t know they were allowed to marry someone of another faith. Your writing has brought insight and a sense of unity to many, allowing us to disagree in respect for one another. Though we each may have our own beliefs that we are right, we can agree we have God-given choice to worship how we will. I imagine I would have similar feelings as you too though if people were attacking and stating lies about me.
Just like Islam have some extremist groups that stray from your scriptures, Christians have them too. As a result, our faith is often judged unfairly. People do horrible things to others in the name of “God” in our faith. They twist and turn scripture to justify their evil acts. Many people turn their own away by claiming to be Christian but living otherwise. Now a day, to be a Christian means so many different things. You almost have to associate yourself with a denomination to not be misjudged–but even then there are those who pervert scripture from within.
I hope you will continue to share your insights on things here. We need your logical, conservative and compassionate tone to continue on the site. Even if there are unkind people out there that choose to be ignorant about your faith, please know that you have had an impact on others and have been more successful at working toward peace and understanding.
Sincerely, your Christian friend,
Melissa
