My Shepherd Will Supply My Needs

When my husband and I were first married, we were both unemployed. I had been working for a floral shop in a town about twenty miles away from the apartment we’d found, and quit my job in order to move. He lost his job the week before the wedding, so there we were, both dead broke. We’d already put a down payment on the apartment and decided to go ahead and move there anyway, and we did, after the honeymoon. We then both went out and pounded the pavement.

Following a prompting, we decided not to wait to start our family. Our daughter was due in about two months and another job crisis hit – I had to quit my job for health reasons and my husband had to find another. I don’t know if it was the pregnant hormones or what, but I had a little bit of a nervous breakdown. I told the Lord that I needed to know that we’d have everything we needed for the baby, that its little toes would always be warm and that it would have enough to eat. For some reason, the image of little cold toes was heartbreaking to me and I cried for a couple of hours.

The next day, a large box arrived in the mail from my sister. She’d been cleaning out her attic and came upon all her old baby clothes. She decided to box them up and send them to me. Right on top of the box, placed so they were the first thing I saw after slitting the tape, were several pairs of tiny socks.

Some would call this a coincidence. I know it wasn’t. My Shepherd heard my cries and answered them, immediately. He used my sister as the angel to deliver the blessing, but the blessing was delivered nonetheless.

It does not matter what we need. He will provide it. I have seen this firsthand countless times in my life. He can be trusted for everything – He will never fail us.
