Annual membership is $60.00, which gives you a discount on conferences, trips and classes. It also offers two different quarterly publications that you will receive as well as an online newsletter.

They have a website www.ngsgenealogy.org, which has many great features as well.
The website offers online and home study course to help you as you begin your quest for genealogy work. The cost is $50.00 per class for nonmembers and $35.00 per class for members additionally there are sections of the website that only members have access to. There is also information on the Genealogy Boy Scout Merit badge available on the site.

The National Genealogical Society holds one conference a year. The locations change from year to year. They also sponsor two trips a year to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. There are two guides that accompany the group on this trip from the society to help make the trip easier.

There is also a large library located in St. Louis, Missouri with books on genealogy. You can check these books out through interlibrary loan with your own library to access them. You may want to visit the NGS Book Collection page to learn more about the books that are available.
